Our 1946 Luscombe 8A is up to the task!

With handling characteristics comparable to many warbirds of its day, the Luscombe 8A is a perfect aircraft for both beginners and old hands.

Our aircraft, N77937, named “Lucy” by her fans, is a 1946 Luscombe 8A upgraded to 75hp. She is light and simple, which helps pilots learn to truly fly the plane.

During the wintertime, she is run on straight skis, allowing for a unique experience for learning pilots.

We offer several options to pilots (Sport and above certificate level) who want to fly this fun machine!

  • Intro Flight - Not sure if tailwheel flying is for you, but want to try it out? Here you go! This flight consists of about an hour and a half on the ground and an hour and a half of flight time. Billed flat rate for $325

  • Tailwheel Endorsement - Allows a pilot to fly tailwheel aircraft as PIC. Depending on the student, this will take between 5 and 10 hours of flight time and 2 and 4 hours of ground time. Billed hourly at current posted rates.

  • Luscombe Checkout - We do offer rental in this awesome airplane! To fulfill insurance requirements, a pilot must have: 100 hours PIC, 25 hours PIC Tailwheel, and 10 hours in a Luscombe 8. Building time towards this goal is billed hourly at current posted rates.
